CRUMB NINA
We've been thoroughly enjoying the increasing trend of jazz-tinged indie pop here at TMR. With soulful Texans Khruangbin leading the way and South Londoners ALASKALASKA set to break at any minute, Brooklyn's relative newcomers Crumb have already proved themselves masters of this emerging genre. Having fallen head over heels for their trippy 2017 single 'Plants' and subsequent Locket EP, we were thrilled to discover the quartet's debut album Jinx will arrive on the 14th of June. Lead single 'Nina' is easily Crumb's most accomplished work to date (and that's saying something). Pairing vibey keys with a water-tight bass line and a gentler, John Bonham-esque beat, songwriter Lila Ramani's irresistibly smooth vocals embark on a series of intoxicating melodies, which get gradually more surreal as the track goes on. Coming complete with an equally engaging video, featuring Twin Peaks and The Warriors star David Patrick Kelly, the beautifully-shot Haoyan of America creation is the perfect partner for this incredible track.
